I established Robin Palmer Ceramics in September 2012 after moving from Aberdeen to Inverness. My work is inspired by the forms, shapes and colours found in the sea, sand and land of northern Scotland.

I have been working with clay since I focused on ceramics during the final year of my BA (hons) in Design and Craft at Gray’s School of Art; my passion and skill continue to develop. I love working with clay in all its forms employing a variety of techniques - slab building, slip casting and wheel throwing- in the production of my work.

I make lighting pieces, functional tableware and 3D sculpture. I am available for commission, and also sell my work in local craft stores and exhibitions.

I have been involved in running evening classes and community arts projects for the past twelve years. I enjoy the opportunity this brings to introduce others to the joy of clay – an often overlooked (or daunting) medium. It’s great to see individuals’ work develop as they soon gain confidence and begin to push the boundaries of the material.

I have now moved to Orkney and look forward to continuing my professional development and seeing the influence of the beautiful surroundings slowly seep into my work, hopefully see you here!
